America Is Now Gay Marriage Country

Nepal became a gay marriage country years ago.
As in earlier civil rights cases, the Supreme Court had moved cautiously and methodically, laying careful judicial groundwork for a transformative decision.
This is the biggest civil rights victory I have seen in America in my lifetime. This is truly historic.

The U.S. just joined a league of 21 countries in which gay marriage is legal
Gay marriage was approved by the legislature in The Netherlands in 2000, making it the first country in the world to do so.
The Supreme Court just did Republicans a huge favor on gay marriage
"Marriage between a man and a woman was established by God, and no earthly court can alter that," said Bobby Jindal -- and the careful line-walking -- "I believe in traditional marriage. ... I also believe that we should love our neighbor and respect others, including those making lifetime commitments," said Jeb Bush..... The I disagree but it's the law of the land line is difficult to argue against; it's the line most establishment Republican candidates now use when abortion is brought up as an issue in a Republican primary.
Next stop: Guns. You need a mirror image organization to the NRA. A regimented organization, perhaps of moms who lost sons to guns. Getting organized is key.

Bobby and Gay Marriage

I guess it's not exactly a new thing, Bobby's stand on gay marriage, but I read about it in news a few days back, and it was like the air was let out of the tire. You could hear the sound. Any warmth I felt for Bobby stands deflated.

Being against gay marriage today is like being against voting rights for blacks, in 1969. It is time to go to the moon, and you are against what now?

At best I will watch the 2016 race unfold in Google News headlines. I got done with political volunteering in 2008. I am also quite taken with watching Modi unfold in India. The guy promises to be India's own Deng Xiaoping, its own Yee Kuan Lew. And I read about him nearly daily.

Mistakes Hillary Could Make

(1) Running

Yes, running could be a mistake. Ted Kennedy was an excellent Senator, and he knew the pressure on him came from the Kennedy brand name. Finally he caved in and ran and took a beating.

(2) Not Running

She did pretty well in 2008. And her stand on gay marriage makes her cutting edge socially. She will have to get better versed on the industries of tomorrow, but then Hillary always has been an excellent student.
